About Traceboard
A free classroom tool for early writing and math. A teacher chooses what to show on an iPad, mirrors it to the projector, and children trace the hollow shapes on the physical whiteboard with markers.
What it shows
- Letters: one letter at a time or the whole alphabet, uppercase or lowercase, English or Spanish.
- Words: a word a teacher types, or words from a class list such as student names or sight words.
- Pre-writing strokes: straight lines, zigzags, waves, loops, and spirals.
- Math: numbers, addition, subtraction, and multiplication sums, number lines, ten frames, clock faces, tally marks, and hundreds charts.
- Drawing: shapes, simple pictures, dot-to-dot outlines, writing paper, grids, and mazes.
How it is used
Everything is sized to the lower half of the projected image so young children can reach it. The teacher controls the board from the iPad and can send praise, a celebration, or a visit from Pip the puppy while a student is working. Nothing is drawn on the iPad itself; the whiteboard is the work surface.
Who makes it
Traceboard is built and run by Saiphyr, a small software studio. It is free to use, has no advertising, and requires no account.
